Lesson 4 - Reflecting Shapes

To encourage your child to have fun on the Web while learning about Reflecting Shapes, here are some games and interactive activities they can do on their own or in pairs.

Instructions for Use

Reflection prompts your child to reproduce a pattern as a reflection.

To use Reflection, click on the 'Random' button and a pattern of coloured blocks will appear. Have your child reproduce the reflection of the pattern by clicking in the squares in the workspace next to the pattern. Click the 'Next' button to make the pattern more complicated. Click the 'Clear' button to start over.

 

Quiltmaker is an interactive program that allows your child to design a quilt by repeating, rotating, and reflecting the same pattern.

To use Quiltmaker, click on the 'Editor' button and click on shapes in the Quiltmaker workspace. Change the colour by clicking on the colour palettes. Click the 'Reflect' button to see the pattern on the quilt. Click the 'Erase' to start over. Click 'Index' to show different patterns.
