Instructions for UseKaleidoscope Painter lets students experiment with division using an interactive kaleidoscope. To use Kaleidoscope Painter, drag your cursor over the surface of the workspace or click the 'Auto' button to generate patterns automatically.
Division Using Counters lets students thinking about division in different ways. To use Division Using Counters, have students read and solve the questions.
Base Ten Blocks lets students model breaking the dividend into groups the size of the divisor and counting the number of groups. To use Base Ten Blocks, click the place value backdrop. Click on a block and drag it into the workspace. Select a block by clicking on it. Once selected, the block can be moved to any location on the workspace. To remove a block, drag it to the recycling bin. Click on the tools on the top panel to select and drag, rotate, lasso blocks to group them, break larger blocks into the next size down, or glue smaller blocks to form the next size up.
