Measuring Cylinder is an interactive activity that lets students estimate and measure the capacity of virtual liquids by turning the tap on, or turning the drain tap on or off. To use Measuring Cylinder, click on the red marker to show the level marker in the cylinder. Use the control arrows to move the marker or reset it in the center of the scale. To change the value of the scale, click the 'Maximum' buttons up or down. To change the scale interval, click the 'Interval' buttons up or down. Click the control panel on the tap to set the amount of liquid to add to the cylinder, or click the tap to add liquid. To release the liquid in the cylinder, click the control panel at the drain tap and set the amount of liquid to drain, or click the drain tap and release the liquid. Click the 'Reset' button to start again.
Fill and Pour promotes students to estimate and measure capacity using virtual containers. To use Fill and Pour, fill one container with the requested amount of liquid. Pour it into the other container and continue filling, pouring, and emptying containers until one of the containers has the specified amount of liquid in it. Click the ' New Problem' button for the next question.
