Instructions for Use

How High? helps students learn about volume by pouring a liquid from one container into a container with a different shape.

To use How High?, click on one of the 'Base' radio buttons to select the type of container. The container on the left will partially fill with a liquid. Drag the arrow next to the container on the right to the level you think the liquid will reach when it is poured from the container on the left. Click ' Pour' . Compare the height of the liquid to your guess.

Click the ' New Problem' button for the next question.

Surface Area and Volume prompts students to investigate 3-D shapes to measure volume.

To use Surface Area and Volume, click on the object and drag the left mouse button to rotate it. Adjust the width, depth, and height sliders to change the volume and surface area of the prism. Use the 'View' buttons to see the prism from different axis. Use the pull-down menu to choose the type of polyhedron to display.
